SAUL ZANOLARI AT SHOREDITCH WINDOW
“THE ART WINDOW” WELCOMES ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING DIGITAL ARTISTS ON THE SCENE.
Did you know?
Ravaged by the blitz, Shoreditch was derelict until a group of bohemians deemed it their spiritual home.
At present is the home of Saul Zanolari, a famous artist well-known for his digital artworks that sound inch by inch human beings’ mind, often featuring borrowed celebrities’ traits as metaphor of modern times, mixing together baroque hyperrealism, pop art irony and the most contemporary medium: the computer. His works evoke a sense of the uncanny out-of-place where the natural becomes artificial (and vice versa).
Saul Zanolari owns a permanent exhibition space in Shoreditch, 151-153 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6HU London, where, periodically changing the set up of the window, he displays his works drawing art out of the isolated and aseptic space of art galleries interacting directly with the public, even with the ones who are not familiar with the artistic world.
From today on, it’s possible to admire one of his works of the Dolls series ‘Paw, growing like lighting’ -part of his Post Human series-.
This artwork is an interesting metaphor of the challenges of growing up (the doll is in fact portrayed injured and covered in bruises) but it’s also an invitation to protect your inner child from the unpleasant harshness of the grown ups world.
Besides the original picture, on display you will find 20 small PAWs sculptures specially made for the Shoreditch Window by Eyepillow AE thanks to which you can appreciate the childlike side of his work.
Nowadays Shoreditch is arty, thriving, one of the most lively areas in London and the place to be seen. The choice to display an artist such as Zanolari proves it!
Shoreditch Window is located in 151/153 Shoreditch High Street E1 6HU London (UK)
